‘I'm about to have my first baby: what am I entitled to?’

Having your first child is a life-changing experience for anyone. Obviously. So obviously that I won’t go on about it. But as well as everything else, there can often be money worries. Plainly you’re not going to be able to work for a while if you’re a new mother, and you’ll also have extra expenses.

The purpose of this section is to show you what’s available and how to get it.

But first we need to sort you into the right group.

Please choose one of the following:
‘I am going to be (or am) a single parent, and have no job’
‘I am going to be (or am) a single parent, have a job, and am taking maternity leave’
‘I have a partner and neither of us is working’
‘I have a partner and they are working full-time’
‘I have a partner and they are working full-time, and I was working but am taking maternity leave’

If none of these applies to you seek further advice.
